Supply Verification
Mechanical alignment between the carrier tape pocket and the pickup spindle center defines the initial state of feeder operation. Component pick readiness ensures that the part is positioned correctly for the vacuum nozzle to descend without physical interference. Verification involves checking that the feeder has advanced to the correct pitch and that the protective cover tape has been stripped back far enough to expose the component.
If this state is not confirmed, the machine may attempt a pick at an empty or obstructed location, leading to downtime.
Capture Condition
Optical sensors monitor the presence of the part within the pocket to prevent nozzle damage. This component pick readiness check triggers a stop if the part is tilted or missing. Vacuum pressure sensors confirm the seal immediately after the pick attempt.
Sequential Impact
Operational efficiency depends on the continuous flow of parts to the pickup zone. High component pick readiness scores indicate that the feeder replenishment and tape splicing processes are meeting the speed of the placement head. When readiness fails, the entire line slows down as the head waits for manual intervention or a feeder retry.
This condition is fundamental to maintaining a high placement rate.
