Quality Verification
Systematic inspection and testing of incoming materials and components at the assembly factory ensure that only conforming items are allowed into production. A receiving quality audit establishes a gatekeeper process to verify that received batches of laminates, solder pastes and electronic components match the drawing specifications. This audit is carried out before any material is transferred to the main stockroom.
It reduces the risk of process failures caused by defective raw materials.
Inspection Methods
Inspectors select representative samples from each incoming batch to check for dimension accuracy, surface finish quality and shipping damage. For printed circuit boards, this evaluation includes verifying the thickness of the copper layers, checking for solder mask clearance errors and running solderability tests on the contact pads. Solder pastes and chemical fluxes are inspected to confirm they have been stored at correct temperatures and are within their expiration dates.
Any material that fails to meet these requirements is placed in a quarantine area to prevent its accidental use in assembly. This process shields the manufacturing floor from component-related downtime.
Supplier Performance
The results of these audits are recorded to track supplier quality trends over time. Frequent failures from a specific vendor can trigger a corrective action request or lead to their removal from the approved vendor list. This data-driven approach maintains the stability of the supply chain.
