Calibration Protocol
Verification of sensor pressures in solder paste inspection systems ensures that the board remains flat during the scanning process. Performing spi downforce calibration prevents the measurement head from pressing too hard against the substrate, which can skew the volume calculations of the printed solder. This setup maintains the height accuracy of the optical sensors.
It is carried out regularly using master gauge boards.
Measurement Fidelity
Consistent downforce settings across different boards prevent false defect calls caused by substrate warping. Through spi downforce calibration, the inspection system adapts to different board thicknesses and material stiffnesses. This calibration ensures that the reference plane for height calculations is measured accurately.
Maintaining this setting avoids the need for manual inspection of flagged boards.
Defect Prevention
Correct sensor force settings avoid mechanical scratches and damage to the delicate solder masks on the circuit board. If spi downforce calibration is neglected, excessive pressure from the inspection assembly can leave marks or deform the printed paste. This physical damage leads to solder bridging and pad contamination during the reflow stage.
Automated calibration routines run before each shift to verify that the pressure remains within the tolerance limit. Regular calibration logs provide traceability for high-reliability manufacturing contracts where cosmetic and physical defects are strictly forbidden.
